On December 15, the Embassy of Italy in Washington and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) will celebrate the Italian National Space Day, in collaboration with the Italian National Research Council (CNR), the Italian Space Agency (ASI), and with the US Space Foundation, the US Chamber of Commerce and the George Washington University. Italian and US space industry professionals, experts and stakeholders will attend and explore new frontiers.
The leading role of Italy in global space as a trusted partner of the US in this strategic domain is noteworthy. Italy is the only major European nation to have signed a bilateral agreement with NASA and is the first EU country that decided to participate in the Artemis Accords. An historic cooperation on the International Space Station and in many exploration and research projects, in low orbit and beyond, proved the value of Italian technological solutions, manufacturing and expertise.
As one of the global strongest space sector pioneers, with a specific sectoral GDP of over 13 Billion Euros in 2021, Italy is a key member of the European Space Agency, has trained several Italian Astronauts, is moving forward with the construction of Western Europe’s first-of-its-kind spaceport in Apulia and is at the forefront of innovation.
The event will cover business, finance and political space relations.
The morning (09:30 AM – 01:00 PM) will be dedicated to B2B sessions between Italian and US companies to reinforce the already flourishing industry’s bilateral collaboration.
A business networking lunch (01:00 AM – 2:00 PM) with space themed Italian products will follow.
At 2:00 PM, a keynote speaker will open a workshop on investments, venture capital and industrial cooperation titled “The U.S. Market and Trends in the Global Space Ecosystem”.
